Grailrunner Ongoing Series Overview

Everything we do at Grailrunner is centered around imagination and the creative process, and some of our most popular articles here are part of what’s called the Inspirational Creator Series. It’s where we dig in with some of the most fascinating creators around and ask what sorts of things inspire them, hear about their creative process, and generally just admire people who have very, very cool jobs.

Whether it’s an artist, game designer, futurist, writer, or fantasy mapmaker…whatever creative wonders they summon and command…we chat with them about those original images, songs, movies, or books that first kindled the magic inside them to create and what drives them even now!

Thomas Edison once said “To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk.” In accordance with that, a second popular feature here is called Inspirations From History, where we highlight intriguing intellectual novelties from the past that are a little farther off-road than your typical History Channel documentary. Machines and games, curiosities, and mysteries of history abound here.

A relatively new series, but already a rising star in popularity, is titled Conversations from the Abyss, and features the innovative use of AI tools to resurrect or otherwise place in alternate realities famous creators of the past to engage them in debates, fascinating chats, or ask them to generate new works for our diversion and entertainment. Everything here is glorified fan fiction written by AI, and nothing is behind a paywall, although practically every one of these has a free download to enjoy!

Our final recurring feature is the Pulp Gems series. This is where we highlight a dazzling, innovative story from the golden days of pulp fiction from magazines such as Planet Stories. If it’s in the public domain, we’ll include a pdf or link so you can read these for yourself and discover just how white-hot and fascinating some of the old pioneers in speculative fiction really were…

We hope you like them. Keep an eye on us, and we’ll keep bringing you inspiration wherever we can find it!
